Thorough Quality Control & Inspection

All plastic injection molding projects with either commodity or engineering resins are supported by the full ISO 9001-certified quality-control department at American Plastics. This department is equipped with modernized equipment to handle comprehensive testing requirements including structural and fatigue testing, heat reversion testing, pressure burst testing, crush testing, and other destructive or non-destructive tests. Tight tolerance injection molding projects for high-performance industries are analyzed using a modern Matrix Series MicroVu video coordinate measuring machine to take precise measurements along the X, Y, and Z axes. Furthermore, our experienced team employs a three-tiered quality control system to guarantee accuracy and precision.

Three-Tiered System to Ensure Product Quality

Step One

Our team generates the 1st article parts and submits them with a comprehensive 1st article inspection report to the customer for review and approval. Once approved, we continue to use the 1st article report as the quality and dimensional benchmark for future runs. Additional capability studies are completed for any tight-tolerance plastic injection molded parts.

Step Two

The approved 1st article inspection report and any specific criteria provided by the customer detailing the specific appearance, functionality, fit, tolerances, testing requirements, labeling, and packaging standards are used to develop a Customized Detailed Inspection Plan. This will frequently include routine testing protocols such as Heat Reversions, Crush Testing, Burst Pressure Testing, and other industry-standard destructive and non-destructive testing to ensure the quality and integrity of parts produced at American Plastics.

Step Three

The Customized Detailed Inspection Plan is utilized during in-process manufacturing checks to ensure all necessary dimensional/visual inspections and testing procedures are performed and documented in uniform detail by all team members. This document also outlines the process for the final inspections, certifications, and any required palletizing or barcode labeling operations to prepare a final product.
